SOUTHBROOK COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION

Gardening Club

The Southbrook Community Centre has a small but beautiful garden full of life. The Southbrook Community Association Gardening Club grow vegetables, fruit and herbs.  We have a sensory garden, a small water feature, log pile, butterfly bushes, and bee and bird boxes. We manage and maintain the garden and the front of the Centre with the help of the Association and parent volunteers and children who attend the SCA childcare facility 'Happy Faces Day Care'.

We feel it is important for the children to play a role in maintaining the garden and supporting the wildlife as it teaches them respect for the outdoor environment.

It is important to the Gardening club to be able to help protect and support the hundreds of species of plants, insects, birds and animals that are indigenous to our country and sadly endangered and put at risk of extinction as a result of human activities.
